You will perform on stage every day.
You’ll get real coaching—with written notes. We watch your shows, write up feedback, and go over it with you so you improve each time you step on stage.
We’ll also take photos of you throughout the week, so you leave with a strong starting promo image you can use for social media, postcards, and advertising.
We do touch on marketing—websites, social media, and ways to get booked—but that’s not the focus here.
The focus is performance.
Real audiences. Real shows Real experience.
Technology matters too. You’ll get hands-on exposure to microphones, headsets, mixers, amplifiers, speakers, wireless systems, music playback, and more. One week isn’t enough to master all of it—but you’ll walk away with a solid working knowledge you can build on.
The SandMan’s Stage Hypnosis Boot Camp

Before You Arrive

We have dozens of shows, by us and others. We break down the parts of the shows for you.
Before you attend Boot Camp with us, we expect you to know a good induction or transcribe one of our inductions before you come to class, so you have some working knowledge of an induction.
If you choose to use your own induction, that’s fine. However, you will be getting on stage and doing shows, so we really recommend that you have some working knowledge of how to perform an induction. We will learn the rest together!
- Alan Sands attended and presented at HypnoThoughts Live in Las Vegas.
- Alan also returned to the Jerry Valley / Tommy Vee / Michael DeSchalit
- Alan regularly presents at the Ultimate Stage Hypnosis Conference and has also presented at HypnosisWorld & Performing Hypnosis Summit
- Lisa (also known as Misty) has attended all HTLive conferences and regularly presents at them
- Misty & Alan attended the Michigan International Hypnosis Convention in September 2025
What you wear matters just as much as your opening monologue. The moment you step on stage, the audience is already forming opinions. Your look sets the tone before you say a word. For corporate events, I wear a suit. For high schools and fairs, I use what I call my “steampunk-lite” costume. We’ll work with you on developing your look—but bring what you have.
And always remember: look neat, and aim to be just a step above your audience.
“Andie Oswald performed for a great audience at a Stage Hypnosis Boot Camp in Eugene, Oregon. He had studied Hypnosis for years—books, videos, everything—but had never actually done it. He came to Boot Camp, took Lisa’s one-day induction training, got on stage… and rocked his audiences.”
- Around the year 2000, I pursued advanced training with some of the industry's legends—Jerry Valley, Shelly Stockwell, and Ormond McGill.
- I later returned for additional advanced training with Jerry Valley, Tommy Vee, and Michael DeSchalit.
- I was also heavily influenced by years of performing alongside Terry Stokes Sr. on the fair circuit.
- I’ve both attended and presented at HypnoThoughts Live in Las Vegas.
- Misty has attended every HypnoThoughts Live and regularly presents, including at the Performing Hypnosis Summit.
- Misty and I regularly present at the Ultimate Stage Hypnosis Conference and have also presented at HypnosisWorld, the Performing Hypnosis Summit, and the Michigan International Hypnosis Convention.
Why We Do This?
When I first began teaching Magic, I knew my material—but like all performers, I had to refine my delivery. Watching other performers, studying timing, and learning what truly connects with an audience shaped my style.
That same mindset carried into stage Hypnosis.
I began performing comedy stage Hypnosis in 1993. In 2013, I launched the Stage Hypnosis Boot Camp. Since then, Misty and I have trained dozens of students—and we continue learning right alongside them.
What sets this Boot Camp apart is simple:
We don’t just talk about it—we put you on stage, show after show, day after day. That’s how real confidence is built. Doctors don’t become doctors by sitting in lectures—they study, they intern, and then they practice. The same is true here.
If you want to be an entertainer, you have to perform.
When I was starting, I read books, studied other performers, and took every class I could find—both clinical and stage. But I didn’t have someone standing beside me, giving those small but critical adjustments on safety, stage presence, and effectiveness.
That’s what we provide now.
So when you step on stage, you don’t just hope it works—you know what you’re doing.
I Want You to Succeed
I’m Alan Sands, and I built this Boot Camp to be the kind of training I wish I had when I was starting.
Hands-on. Guided Real stage experience.
This isn’t about sitting in a room talking theory. It’s about getting on stage, doing the work, learning from each show, and getting better every single time you perform.
Over the years, I’ve had several students come back and do the Boot Camp again—and some have returned multiple times.
Not because they didn’t get value the first time, but because they saw how much stronger they became with continued coaching and real stage time.
That tells me we’re doing something right.
That’s how I measure success.
And if you want to know what this experience is really like, don’t just take my word for it—talk to them.
I’m happy to provide a complete list of past students, along with their contact information, so you can hear it directly from people who’ve been through it.
Before You Arrive
You’ll get access to our Video Boot Camp Training on Vimeo.
Inside, you’ll find dozens of real shows—performed by us and other pros—broken down so you can see exactly what’s happening and why it works.
Before you arrive, I ask that you come in with a basic working induction in place. You can learn one of ours or bring your own—either is perfectly fine.
You’ll be getting on stage and performing for real audiences, so having that foundation makes a big difference.
We’ll take it from there—and build everything else together.
Entire Solo Shows
With an audience of fresh volunteers, show after the show: no ‘Hypno-junkies’ or fellow students. You will get old & young volunteers just like you will get in actual shows! THAT is the only way to learn how to do stage Hypnosis! You will have both large and small audiences, just as in real life.
As one past student said, “Alan pushes you off the dock and into the water, and you learn how to swim.” However, I am still there and will not let you drown. I am your lifeguard.
You learn to perform in real shows in the real world. I have a 100% success rate.
Are you ready to become a stage Hypnosist? Then The SandMan’s Stage Hypnosis Boot Camp is for you.
Most training sessions pack as many people as possible into a lecture and send them home without ever having performed a whole show, often not even with an audience that has never been hypnotized.
But think about it: would you take a cooking class where you never cooked, or where every ingredient was pre-made? Of course not. That’s not how people actually learn.
With us, you don’t just hear about stage Hypnosis—you do it. We start by giving you the tools: you’ll learn how to use audio and video equipment and understand the structure of a show so you’re fully prepared. Then, we take you to live fairgrounds, where you’ll get on stage, multiple days in a row, in front of real audiences.
By the end, you won’t just know the theory—you’ll feel the confidence. You’ll leave saying, “YES, I can do a show!”—because you already have.
If you’re serious about this—if you’ve been thinking about it, reading about it, watching videos…
At some point, you have to step on stage.
When you’re ready to stop thinking about it and actually do it—
I’ll be here.
